No matter your circumstances, thinning hair is a difficult and often embarrassing issue to deal with. I mean, who wants to leave a trail of hair behind everywhere they go? Then to make matters worse, everyone knows it’s you. We know the struggle because we’ve been through it. Lucky for you, we’ve discovered a few simple things to help minimize shedding and keep your hair on that beautiful head.

Anti-Thinning Hair Care

Some products tend to cause hair to fall out more than others. We’re not sure what causes it, but we do know that some products also help slow it down. I’ve been loving the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Care Anti‑Thinning Shampoo and Conditioner because it helps slow down the thinning. It is not heavy on your hair and it smells great!

Cold Water Showers

I know it sounds uncomfortable, especially if you love hot showers for the sake of relaxing. Believe it or not, though, ending your shower with a full rinse in cold water helps reduce hair thinning. My theory is that the cold water closes your pores, allowing your hair to stay strongly rooted in the scalp. So, brave it for just a minute and rinse your hair in cold water to prevent further thinning.

Gentle Detangling

I get it–sometimes we’re in a hurry and we don’t have time to waste on detangling the gentle way, but it’s necessary. Whether our roots are weak or our hair strands are brittle, tugging on the hair can cause serious damage and fall out. Work from the bottom and detangle gently. Your hair will thank you for it.

Pre-Natal Vitamins

One possible cause of hair thinning is an imbalance in your hormones or health. Consuming prenatal vitamins helps to improve that balance and strengthens your hair, skin, and nails. There are a wide variety of prenatal vitamins to choose from so make sure that you get ones with no fillers or unnecessary additives.

Micro Scalp Pigmentation

For those with bald patches caused by hair thinning, micro scalp pigmentation is a great option. Using the same needles and blades we use in microblading or shading of the eyebrows, we can enhance the appearance of the scalp. We simply add hairlike strokes to add thickness or small dots to create the appearance of a shaved head. Read one of our previous blogs on micro scalp pigmentation to learn more.

We Get It

We do. It sucks feeling like you have to constantly hide those patches or style your hair one specific way to look full.
