Check out the differences below before you go under the knife, blade, tattoo gun… you get the idea.

Permanent Makeup

A lot of professional artists that apply permanent makeup use the same type of application as semi-permanent makeup. The difference is the depth of pigment application, the pressure applied and the amount of pigment applied. Some permanent artists will straight up use a tattoo gun or tattoo machine with and can use a trace or freehand. Some artists recommend avoiding this technique for permanent makeup especially if applying this to your eyebrows. You run the risk off scarring if the artist isn’t as skilled or goes too deeply beneath the epidermis.Additionally, it’s noted that the healing process and the length as to how long the ‘permanent’ makeup tattoo will last will all depend on the skill of your artist. The gauge that many permanent makeup artists tell their clients as to how long their makeup will last is between one to five years. If you’re interested in permanent makeup, then be sure not to skimp on the price. We’re talking about a permanent pigment on your face. You definitely want to opt for quality over getting a good deal. Take your time, find the right artist and check out the facility. Ensure sanitation practices are on point and the artist is registered with the Health Department.

Semi-Permanent Makeup

For those of you that like the idea of not having to fuss with makeup every day or worry about, for example, drawing mismatched eyebrows each morning, but you’re not ready to commit to a permanent look for the next five years of your life, then semi-permanent makeup is an ideal option for you.Semi-permanent makeup, which is also known as microblading, is when an artist uses a specialized blade to apply pigment that is approved for epidermis applications. While there is no tattoo gun, it’s still very important to do your research on your artist prior to undergoing the knife. It’s really not that scary, but, as you’ve seen on the news some consumers of the semi-permanent makeup have had bad experiences. The best way to combat this is to ensure your artist is well trained, certified with the state health department and to also check out the facility prior to receiving a semi-permanent makeup treatment. The reason that some customers are in the news for terrible eyebrows is due to the fact that their artist wasn’t trained well enough and/or they weren’t clean during the application causing an infection. If semi-permanent eyebrow makeup, for example, is applied correctly then an individual will have very slight redness and slight peeling of the skin right after an application. Beyond that, they will enjoy beautiful brows requiring minimal updates. If you don’t like the look of your brows, then between 6 to 10 weeks you can go back to your artist and have them slightly adjusted to be thicker or with a different color and it isn’t a completely permanent look so adjustments can be made.Need help finding a semi-permanent eyebrow makeup artist in Las Vegas?
