Microblading FAQs

How does Microblading work?

During your appointment for the microblading enhancement, your MicroBladers Artist will determine the best look for your face and natural brow shape. Your artist will numb the enhancement area prior to the start of your enhancement. During this time, you and your artist will find the perfect color for your eyebrows.

Then your artist will use a specialized tool to render all-natural, hair like strokes in the shape and style you both determined. The tool is only used during an individual appointment and with each new appointment, a new tool is used. The appointment may require 2 to 3 passes of color followed by moments of pigment baths. During a pigment bath, the color you and your  artist chose will begin to absorb into the hair-like strokes already applied to the enhancement area.

Depending on your consultation, the average appointment can last 2 hours. However, some appointments may take less time while others take slightly longer. Microblading is a completely custom experience so variations will occur based on each individual.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Following your consultation, you will book your actual appointment. At that time, your MicroBladers Artist will provide you with a list of preparation items that include: * Avoiding eyebrow tinting, waxing, tweezing or threading at least 7 days prior to your appointment. *

Three days prior to your appointment, please ensure you’ve spoken with your physician regarding the hold of medications used for blood thinning. * At 24 hours prior to your appointment, you’ll want to avoid the intake of caffeine as well as any sort of supplements like Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Vitamin E, fish oil supplements and Niacin.

What is involved with aftercare?

Following your appointment, your MicroBladers Artist will provide you with a list of aftercare instructions as well as information on follow-up appointments.

It is recommended that you do not visit a tanning bed or receive excess amounts of sun exposure. Additionally, it is recommended that you avoid working out, sweating intensely as well as wait at least three weeks before traveling to ensure the enhancement is healing.

Can microblading damage my skin?

A potential for scarring exists only if you choose a poorly trained microblading person.

At MicroBladers we ensure that all of our Artists are not only thoroughly trained and certified, but they have had a minimum 6-month apprenticeship with our Master Level Artist.

Who shouldn’t get Microblading?

At MicroBladers, our team of artists considers your health the most important requirement, which is why we recommend individuals with the following condition speak with a medical professional prior to booking a consultation:

  • Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Those 18 years of age and under
  • Individuals with serious illnesses such as autoimmune disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, cancer, major heart conditions, organ transplants, viral infections, skin infections or facial psoriasis
  • Anyone who has taken Accutane within the last year should avoid this procedure

If you aren’t sure whether you are able to get the procedure, consult with a physician first and then discuss with your Artist during the consultation your health concerns.

Individuals who may be prone to oily or extra oily skin should consider a different treatment, such as Microshading, which will be much more suited for longer lasting brows on oily skin.

What is an Ombre Brow?

Using Microshading to create a more luminous powder-filled brow, you can also add an ombre effect using Microshading. This ombre appearance is similar to that of an ombre hairstyle, but instead of a more defined look, ombre brows look completely all natural as if the sun has lightened your brows. This is great for those who have extra oily skin and will help your brows last longer.

What is Microshading?

Microshading, which is often recommended for those who may be more prone to oily skin, is similar to microblading, but instead of the hair-like strokes, your Artist will use a different hand tool combined with a specialized machine with acupuncture-like needles to emulate a softer and fuller as well as denser look. Many individuals who have oiler skin find that Microshading allows the look to last longer between touchups than Microblading.
