Areola + Nipple Restoration

Effect: Realistic 3D areola, visibly smoothened post-surgical scars

Paramedical PMU or Medical PMU (permanent makeup) Restoration helps cancer survivors and post-surgery patients feel whole again. Using various permanent makeup techniques, paramedical PMU cosmetically covers post-surgical scars and recreates the look of areolas by depositing pigment into the skin. The artist will “tattoo” the missing pigment around your nipples to resemble its original look, including the texture, natural bumps, and marks. Same techniques will be used to cover scars with pigment that most closely resembles the skin around the scar area.

Recommended for:

  • Cancer survivors who have lost their nipples after surgery
  • Other patients who acquired surgical scars and want to cover them

How is Medical PMU Restoration Done?

Medical PMU Restoration involves implementing pigment into the skin, just like in eyebrow microblading, to restore or enhance the appearance of your breasts. It’s a great way to restore not just your nipples but also your confidence after a mastectomy and other types of breast surgery that could cause discoloration or fading of areolas. While it cannot physically bring back your areola, “tattooing” pigment with advanced 3D techniques make it look astonishingly realistic! The same is done on medically-related scars.

Another term used for areola restoration is “simulation”. While you will not feel the original texture and bumps on your nipple area, you will be amazed at how micropigmentation can create a 3D effect of protruding nipples, by using pigments that mimic the shadows, patterns, roughness, and smoothness that match your original one.

How Does it Feel While Receiving the Treatment?

Each client experiences varying levels of discomfort during the procedure. It depends on the individual’s pain tolerance and skin sensitivity. In general, clients only feel little to moderate pain. Remember that even though treatments using the same microblading techniques creates micro incisions, -they only get to the outer or superficial layers of the skin.

FAQs

How will my new 3D areola feel on my skin after it’s healed?

Since areola re-pigmentation is done via cosmetic tattooing, it may feel like ordinary body tattoos. Although you will not feel the bumps and texture that your nipple and its surrounding areas used to have, they will look incredibly realistic.

How will my camouflaged scar feel after it’s healed?

Since Medical PMU does not remove the original scar on your skin, you will still feel it’s texture the way it was before the treatment. The difference is it will be significantly less visible or not visible at all, depending on the size and severity of your post-surgical scar. The procedure is designed so that the pigments will blend in with the skin around your scar area so that the scar appears hidden, as the name scar camouflaging implies.

Why is medical PMU better than plastic surgery?

Medical PMU is the best option for those who do not want to undergo another surgical treatment. It is not as invasive as surgery and is significantly more practical. The appearance also looks more natural because the pigments used allow the affected or discolored area to be softened and blended in to look as natural as possible.

When can I get medical PMU treatment?

Your scar must have significantly healed before we can perform medical PMU both for areola re-pigmentation and scar camouflaging. Otherwise, the procedure might worsen the scar if it is still relatively fresh.

Who shouldn’t get medical PMU treatments?

Since medical PMU uses similar microblading and microshading techniques, most of the same restrictions apply. See microblading FAQs here.
